Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom: An Attempt to Protect Atlantis from Black Manta

Here is the synopsis of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

Aquaman 2's story is set several years after the events of the first movie. Arthur Curry aka Aquaman (Jason Momoa) lives a new life after becoming King of Atlantis.

He must lead the underwater kingdom with various royal activities, such as matters related to politics and diplomacy. Call it when he is required to regularly attend meetings with other underwater kingdom leaders.

Aquaman is also married to Mera (Amber Heard), who is now his queen. They have also been blessed with a child named Arthur Jr.

Arthur Jr. is still a baby, so he lives on land with Aquaman's father, Tom Curry (Temuera Morrison). This makes Aquaman and Mera often stop by the mainland because they have to take care of the child.

Aquaman is even more active on land because he is part of the Justice League. This habit causes anxiety for other kingdoms, especially because the underwater nation is threatened to be known about its existence, which has been kept secret.

Important people in the underwater world are also worried that Aquaman will become the target of his enemies because he often faces humans, aliens, and super robots on land. The threat to Aquaman is of course also very influential on the safety of Atlantis.

Until then, the worry really happened when someone named David Kane aka Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) intended to kill Aquaman and destroy Atlantis.

This desire was triggered by a sense of revenge because Kane's father was killed by Aquaman in the past. He finally had the ambition to take revenge by looking for ancient technology that could attack Aquaman.

The search led to the magic-powered Black Trident that David Kane found with his secret team in the snow ruins.

The Trident leads David Kane to a dangerous resource that can help him become a more powerful version of Manta. However, the resource could also cause global warming and threaten Atlantis.

Aquaman slowly learns of Manta's plan to collect these dangerous resources. However, he also realized that he could not defeat Manta alone.

He was finally forced to ask for help from Orm (Patrick Wilson), his younger brother and nemesis in the past. Aquaman and Orm are then involved in a mission to prevent Manta from saving Atlantis.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom was again worked on by James Wan, the director who also directed the first Aquaman film. The film was written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick as a screenwriter.

Most of the cast of important characters from the first film reappear in the sequel. Apart from Jason Momoa, there are also Patrick Wilson, Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, to Dolph Lundgren and Temuera Morrison.

Aquaman 2 was originally scheduled to air on December 16, 2022, then postponed to March 17, 2023 due to schedule changes due to Covid-19.

The broadcast schedule was again postponed to December 25, 2023. However, Warner Bros. finally accelerated the release to December 22 in the United States.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom hits theaters starting December 20, 2023.
